for this district.
13.-D.R.O.'s house, enclose verandah, $1,400.-The title is self-
explanatory.
14.-Mong Kok Market (a) Flush urinal, $4,500.-There is no conveni-
ence of this type at the Market.
(b) Storeroom and kitchen, $1,000.--The lack of storeroom and kitchen causes inconvenience to the Staff employed at the Market.
15.-Ma Tau Kok Slaughter House incinerator, $5,000. The present in- cinerator is of insufficient capacity. It is proposed to replace this by a larger one.
16.-Latrine, Nam Kok Road, Kowloon City, $13,000.-To provide a public
flush convenience in this district.
17.-Tai Po Kau Forest Reserve, new plant house, $2,300.-Te provide
a small plant house for use by the Botanical and Forestry Department.
18. Au Tau Police Station, $3,500.-There is no garage accommodation at
this outlaying station. This is now considered essential.
19.-Un Long-Public Latrine, $5,500.-To provide a public convenience
in this district.
20.-Herbarium and Library, Botanical and Forestry Office, Extension, $3,700.-Owing to the existing premises being badly overcrowded facilities are impaired and contents are liable to be damaged. extension is now urgently required.

21.-Botanical and Forestry Office, Lai Chi Kok, $2.500.-There is no office at Lai Chi Kok Store at present and the provision of one wil permit the Assistant Supervisor to carry out a large proportion of his Kowloon office work without returning to Headquarters at Peak Road.
GENERAL WORKS.
22.-Ronds, $110,000.--For surfacing, channelling and foot-paths to new
roads as buildings are crected or realignments of streets take place. 23.-Drainage (a) Training Nullahs, $13,000.-To train stream courses where this is required as a result of new develop-
ment.
(b) Miscellaneous, $98,000.—To provide sewers and storm-
water drains for newly developed areas.
24.--Miscellaneous, $34,800.--This vote is to meet the requirements of all Departments and provides funds for minor works which are considered too small for separate votes.
25.--Port Works, $3.500.-To cover the expense of taking soundings, borings, and for preliminary investigations in connection with new or proposed harbour werks, foreshore dumping, etc.

COMMUNICATIONS.
Sub-head 26.-Island Road, Strengthening Bridges, $10,000.—To continue a small reconstruction programme which was commenced last year in connec- tion with minor bridges which require strengthening to take present day traffic.

27.-Bowen Road, Widening and forming footway between Garden Road and Bowen Road Tram Station, $20,000.-To complete this work which was commenced last year.
28.-Kowloon Inland Lot 3394-Forming access roads from Ma Tau Wai Road and Argyle Street, $20,000. The increase of building development in this area now requires that facilities be given to open up further land for disposal.
29.-Argyle Street, castern end of, $50,600.-Owing to the development towards the eastern end of this street, it is necessary to open it up to its full width.
30.--Layout of the Government Quarry, Hok Un, $150,000.-Required for the preliminary development of a road quarry for Kowloon and for transporting existing plant from Tsat Tse Mui Quarry and re-erecting at Kowloon. The quarry will also be required in connection with the programme of strengthening and improving the Kowloon-Muk Fu Ferry section of the Kowloon-Canton Road.
31.-Saigon Street, $1,000.-At Kowloon Marine Lot No. 49-Formation and surfacing. This street has been partially developed for some years. It is now considered necessary to complete the formation and surfacing.
32. Sai Kung Road Extension, $8,000.-When this extension was formed a temporary diversion was made to a section adjoining Kai Tak Aero- drome. The diversion encroached slightly on a portion of the area which had been acquired by the Air Ministry. The Air Ministry have now requested that the road be constructed to its final alignment. 33.-Tsun Wan Market Road, $8,000.—To complete the formation and sur-
facing of the public roadway surrounding this market. 34.-Bridges Strengthening, $30,000.-To continue the programme of
bridge strengthening.
35.-Castle Peak Road North of Tsun Wan Marine Lot No. 8, realigning, regrading and surfacing, $19,000.-To continue work in connection with road alignment which was put in hand last year owing to the sale of a large area of land adjoining the road.
36.-Improvement to area North East of Bridge at Tai Po Market, $5,000— To commence work on bringing this low lying and swampy area up to final development level.
37.-Kowloon-Canton Road, Improvements to Kowloon-Muk Fu Ferry Section, $500,000.-To commence a programme of improvements to the alignment and grading and to strengthen and resurface this section of the Kowloon-Canton Road.
MISCELLANEOUS,
38.-Colonial Cemetery, Laying out new areas, $2,000.-To extend the
burial area within the existing boundaries of the cemetery.
